In other news water is wet, the sky is blue, and our politicians are morons. Nothing changes. A new report shows that the Palestinians and global media spread false information about actions of the IDF during the 2014 Gaza war.

It starts with the fact that three different news outlets reported that Israel bombed a power plant, on three different dates. Perhaps the IDF’s rockets miscalculated twice and only properly hit the target a third time. But as it turns out “the power plant was not destroyed; it went back online two months later,” reports algemeiner.

Algemiener published an article with a large report released by the IDF which finally clears a few things up. Bellow is the highlight of the event.

In regard to the first three incidents of damage to the power plant, it was found that the damage did not occur as the result of any direct or intentional attack, aerial or otherwise, by IDF forces. The FFA Mechanism could not rule out the possibility that the power plant facilities may have been damaged by shrapnel, or artillery fire that went off course during the combat. This, in light of the considerable military activity that took place in the vicinity of the plant, between IDF forces and squads affiliated with terror organizations. As well as in light of the fact that terror organizations located a large number of terror assets adjacent to the power plant – at times at a distance of mere tens of meters (such assets included launching pits in which rockets and mortars were stored, medium range rocket launchers, the openings of combat tunnels, weapons caches and more). Evidence has also been obtained which indicates that a portion of the damage may have been caused as the result of rocket fire by Palestinian terror organizations.

In yet another twist of fate, the Palestinians once again blame Israel for the actions of their own democratically elected terrorist organization and the world media eats it up with a spoon. The inner details of the report also confirm Hamas “deliberately placed military targets adjacent to the power plant specifically to discourage Israel from striking them.”

The media at large cannot comprehend Israel not being responsible for every single little thing that went bump in Gaza. It’s a sad view of the media and of the western culture to demonize and scrutinize Israel above all other armies and nations. And if you dare to point out the inaccuracies of the reports they publish they will hide behind the bias of the IDF, while they themselves maintain a heavy anti-Israel bias.

This is of course in line with their reports that Israel was mercilessly bombing schools and hospitals (which were full of weapons and were being used by Hamas as sites from which to launch their rockets at Israel). Hamas may be awful, not just to Israel, but to their own people as well. But the world media is doing more harm than good by portraying one group as the aggressor and one as the innocent. The rose colored glasses have to come off.  This is like J-Street claiming to be pro-Israel while actually demonizing Israel. The world media works similarly, but at least they do not even try to hide their bias.

The media is not likely to wake up, until the individual journalist, the up and coming students are taught to report facts not theories and to keep their own bias out of reporting. Journalistic neutrality should return. It isn’t likely to given how quickly people consume information on average. Still a new generation of journalists could be trained to write stories to inform the individual on what is happening and nothing more.
