It seems incredible that this is my third month writing here and I have yet to write anything about Israel. Well no more. As anyone who knows me will say, “She loves Comic Books, Israel, and the Constitution.” So I suppose it’s time.  Given some of the rhetoric coming from certain candidates and in the wake of the classiest guy on the stage dropping out, it is time to talk about Israel and what the remaining candidates have in store for the Jewish nation. There is quite a lot of political rhetoric on the subject and as such we start with the Democrats.

With four and a half candidates still vying for the nomination from the two parties there is one topic that has been touched upon very little during the various debates. Israel. Now while many candidates have spoken out about it during those debates, or made spectacles of themselves, we have to talk about them.

Let’s start with the Jewish guy in the room, lest he forgets he’s Jewish, Bernie Sanders. He has fully admitted that he supports a two-state solution and admits it’s not a magic fix. His faith and culture (that he doesn’t really seem to care about), has no relation to his feelings on the conflict. Hello magical land of neutrality. You’re useless. “Bernie believes that Israel and the Palestinians can, and should, peacefully co-exist, and that Palestinians should have a country of their own.” Great. Sure, a separate country for the Palestinians would be awesome, even better if it is far, far, very far away from Israel. But that’s not reality, I know that. Therefore the only viable solution coming from this would be Israel stuck between the new “Palestine” consisting of Gaza and the parts of the West Bank that Fatah controls. Want to take a gander at how long such a state would last before Hamas and Fatah use Israel as battle ground for their own civil war? One terrorist group to rule all the land kind of thing. And hey, who cares about the Jews, Arabs, Christians, Bahai that get caught in between.

Before we let the senator off the hook on his neutral and pro-everyone stance there is also this: “Bernie is not a big supporter of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and believes that diplomacy, not military action or economic sanctions, can keep Israel safe from Iran.” Great, diplomacy works out so well, especially with Iran, who is clearly abiding by every word of the deal they made with Obama…yup, mhmm…sure. Just how they promise they’re not funding terrorism and then turn around and do exactly that.

But oh, there’s still a lot more to discuss when it comes to this socialist, who can’t seem to understand that peace isn’t always an option. “Bernie supported funding an Israeli-Palestinian Peace, Reconciliation and Democracy Fund, to finance both Israeli and Palestinian organizations committed to the “promotion of democracy, human rights, freedom of the press, and non-violence among Palestinians, and peaceful coexistence and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.” I guess we can add pacifist to his political beliefs too. Pacifism will help Israel next time Hamas is shooting rockets into Sderot. All problems can be solved if we just sing a song and ask the Palestinians nicely if they would please stop thinking and trying to kill Jews. That always worked so well in the past.

Now this is the part where things just get extremely entertaining. Bernie actually thinks that Palestinians want a peaceful solution to the problem and that more money, to specific organizations will solve the problem. For a guy who says there isn’t a magical solution, I think he’s hoping on will grow if he buys those magic beans. That’s not just hilarious, that’s downright delusional. Soda Stream was doing great and giving people jobs until Europe, BDS and other so called groups who claimed to have the best interest of the Palestinians got involved and ruined people’s lives, and helped to increase unemployment among Palestinians.

For those of you who support Benjamin Netanyahu, Bernie boycotted his speech last year in Congress. In his defense he said “the address, arranged without consultation with the White House, improperly interfered with President Barack Obama’s leading role in charting U.S. foreign policy.” Not really, but we’ll pretend.

Grade for Bernie, a Flaming D because at the very least he acknowledges that Israel has a right to exist, thus saving him from a total F, just barely, even if he is still quite ignorant of the conflict.

Moving on to the former first lady, former Secretary of State, and overall colossal train wreck of a political career, Hillary Clinton.

Let’s be honest, if Hillary was hooked up to a lie detector it would go off every time she opened her mouth. She has not been a strong supporter of Israel no matter how much she paints herself to be. It’s kind of amusing to watch her pander to the Jewish vote and pretend that Israel matters to her when it doesn’t. Admittedly between her and Sanders, she at least has actual foreign policy experience and knowledge, whether good or bad, experience is experience.

In 2012 she did help to negotiate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel and admits that the Palestinians are trapped by their own idiotic leaders who are only interested in destroying Israel. She admits that Israelis are right in defending themselves against rockets. She even schooled fellow liberal twit John Stewart on the subject. Pretty surprising on her part. But how much of what she told John Stewart is true? Some of the things she claimed in her book about her time as Secretary of State contradicts this statement form an article from the JPost. “During a speech in 2012 she spoke of Israel’s “lack of generosity” and “lack of empathy” toward the Palestinians. She admitted that during her time as secretary of state she oftentimes was the “designated yeller” at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She once yelled at him for 45 minutes when Israel granted permits to build houses in the eastern neighborhoods of its capital Jerusalem during Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel.” Hillary will be anyone’s friend if the political trend demands in.

As a leader her attitude towards Israel will be no better (or worse) than Obama’s. But she has at least admitted, on camera and everything, that Israel has to be able to exist and has a right to defend itself. She may hate Bibi. But she understands the strategic friendship she has to maintain with Israel. Hillary gets a C because as Secretary of State she sees the value of staying on Israel’s good side and despite her feelings on Bibi, she can put on a face and act like its best friends when she needs it. She also recognizes Iran as a threat to Israel. That gives her one grade above Bernie, but still not good enough in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Palestinian terrorists, inciting violence and the question of Jerusalem as well as rocket attacks. Hillary’s support of Israel is not the worst, and it’s far from the best. It is exactly what it is. Average.

Well that’s it or the Dems folks.  Tune in next time, when when we tackle what may be the last Republican Party candidates.
